According to an August 2009 study conducted by Pear Analytics, 40% of the tweets on Twitter are nothing but pointless babble. Meaning a lot of people are posting tweets that do nothing to add to the conversations taking place on Twitter. This would include tweets about going to the bathroom or sharing the fact that you are eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I don’t know about you but that is information I could have lived a lifetime not knowing.

What does RT mean on Twitter ? RT means ReTweet - Give credit to The Tweeter When you see RT on Twitter it is always followed by @stacykinney (Example). This means that someone is re stating what someone else said. You are giving credit to the person who made the statement much like you would do with a quote. You want to make sure that you always give credit. Do not ever cut and paste a tweet and make it your own. That is a big NO NO on Twitter.

Promoting your brand with a social media marketing campaign focused on addressing the needs of your target audience is an almost guaranteed way of driving customers to your business. Before the internet came around, the only way to reach potential customers was to either advertise on the media outlets available at the time - i.e. newspapers, television and radio - or to directly connect with them by interrupting their day with a telemarketing call or approaching them on the street.
